Start Beet Battle 2026 INVITE GmbH

The school competition Beet Battle started. In this challenge, pupils grow plants and discover how much produce can be grown in one square metre of land.

The Beet Battle is a school competition organised by CEPLAS in collaboration with the research institute invite and the Bayer LifeHub Monheim. In this challenge, pupils grow plants and discover how much produce can be grown in one square metre of land.

This year, 24 schools from North Rhine-Westphalia are participating in the competition. Following the kick-off event on 3 March, it is now time to get to work: it is time to sow the seeds. Participants must strategically consider which combination of carbohydrate, protein, fat and ‘snack’ plants will produce the most significant yield. Time is short because the harvest is already in July.

Through this competition, participants learn about the scarcity of agricultural land is and the importance of planning, timing and plant selection. Beet Battle combines climate protection, agriculture and creativity to demonstrate how our food depends on successful crop cultivation.
